Listed in 1977, and in October 1979 telephone directory.
In the January 1986 phone book, it is listed as Fairlee Hospital Continuing Care Wing (using the same phone number as the hospice in 2008).
1981-1982 Wessex Regional Health Authority Regional 10 year plan – Building programme for Fairlee hospital continuing care - £190,000 was earmarked for a local hospice movement.
This hospital became the Earl Mountbatten Hospice in 1982.
